Rondo's mug is plastered all over the Celtics' home page ...

Is that a sign? Has Danny lost out on his man (i.e. the point guard with the suspect knee versus the point guard with the suspect elbow)?

Chris Forsberg, for one, hopes not (espn.go.com) ...
For those on the fence, here's one thing to ask yourselves: What's it going to take for the Celtics to win this year if they maintain the current core? Remember that the Celtics have limited assets ($3 million mini mid-level exception) to add talent beyond minimum contracts.

Are you confident that this core, as currently comprised, can withstand the rigors of a condensed 66-game season? Will these players be healthy in May and June? Do you believe this squad can win enough regular-season games to put itself in prime postseason position? After what we saw in the playoffs last year, is this team capable of competing with Miami with minor changes to its roster?

Ignore the noise, Danny. Go get your guy. You've never been afraid to roll the dice, and you shouldn't be now.

Should the league's official website be using the word "Lebron'd" on their front page?

Personally, I think it's funny ... but my gut tells me someone is going to be reprimanded for endorsing this as a part of the NBA lexicon.

Or hey, maybe David Stern is intentionally needling one of his "golden boys" for the recent legal mess they've caused (in his eyes, at least) ... Now that I think of it, we might be seeing a lot of "anti-big name star" propaganda popping up via official league channels during this shortened season.

I can see David now ... "Shaq! Barkley! Rip these guys a new asshole!" It'll be like Mister Burns unleashing the hounds ;)

Rondo is our starting prick guard ... Whoops, I mean staring POINT guard

MICHAEL FELGER: Is Rajon Rondo overrated?
DAMON AMENDOLARA: Down here ... Yes, in Boston he is. I don't think nationally he is.
MICHAEL FELGER: Yeah, because nationally they view him as a ... The sixth best point guard in the league, right?
DAMON AMENDOLARA: Which is about what he is. I think what he did in 2010 should not be overlooked. He was a great piece of that team that came this close to winning a championship, but there's a lot of emotionality that comes in with ... Celtics fans about how good Rondo is.
MICHAEL FELGER: He can't shoot, and I think that personality-wise ... He's a pill. Sort of a prick. And, uh--
DAMON AMENDOLARA: [laughs] Who in the NBA isn't though, Mike? I mean, come on!
MICHAEL FELGER: Well, fair point, Damon! But I do believe ... my gut tells me he has worn out his welcome here.
Are people online trying to make this into a big deal because:

A) They don't like Felger attacking Rondo?
B) They don't like Felger?
C) They don't like hearing the word "prick" on basic cable television?
D) All of the above?

Hey, at least we're back to serious basketball discussion now that the lockout is over ... Oh, wait a minute, this is the EXACT OPPOSITE OF THAT

The Onion weighs in on the NBA Lockout

These guys are always good for a larf (onionsportsnetwork.com) ...

Any hope for the 2011 NBA season may soon disappear in a confusing morass of mutual greed, antitrust litigation, and David Stern's uselessness. Onion Sports breaks down the key points and what they mean for the fans:
  • Lebron James, Dwyane Wade, and Chris Bosh are now legally obligated to find something else not to be the champion of
  • All jammas will be without slammas for the foreseeable future
  • Despite having no obligation to do so, Knicks owner James Dolan will continue sending Eddy Curry checks out of habit
  • Until the players union reassembles, children shooting hoops in their driveway are legally prohibited from pretending to be any current NBA player
  • Although talks continue, both owners and players are expected to reject Kobe Bryant's offer to be paid $2 billion to play an entire season by himself
  • As All-Star Weekend is now canceled, there can be no resolution of whether the league's rookies or sophomores are better by means of a single game in which everyone is trying to make cool dunks
  • That old Peja Stojakovic jersey at the Champs Sports in the mall is now 50 percent off
  • The NHL will continue to go unwatched and unloved
  • Despite disagreement on almost every issue, owners and players alike will continue to mutter "Shut up" whenever David Stern starts talking
  • Over the next few weeks, players and ownership hope to resolve issues over money while at the same time destroying the sport of basketball forever

The NBA lockout and fun with pixels!

Some of you may have become familiar with this site via your social network of choice a few months back, but the "Origin Generator" (genzu.net) is a wondrous bit of online ephemera which allows you to enter any word of your choosing, then watch in amazement as the site "pixelizes" that word before morphing it into some other random word that shares many of the same pixel positions.

It's a marvelous little time waster, and with nothing better to do as the NBA lockout rages on (perhaps reaching an unfortunate climax by the end of the day?), I decided to enter some terms that are relevant to the current situation and see what the Generator would come up with.

Behold ...

Well, that doesn't fit.

Hmmm ...

Now we're getting somewhere!

I knew it!

Or lack thereof ...

Some people might think so ...

And we have a winner!

Random videos: Shaq versus Michael Jackson versus Homer Simpson versus Megatron

Consider this a belated "thanks for everything" to the retiring Shaq-Man ... plus I'm just really really bored.

Michael Jackson Vs Shaq mugen

I really wish I could reupload this without that crappy intro, because I loved how this turned out otherwise. Skip to 0:32 for actual content.

Because Mariofire demanded it. AI-controlled.

The deceptacion's have a new plan to take over the world: conquer the NBA. But not if Shaq has anything to say

teacher says, "Extra credit if you can tell me what team he is on in the game"

Yeah, I had to do this when I found him. He is from an old game called Shaq Fu (not joking; its a real game.)
