2008 NBA Finals - Game 4
08:32
6.12.08
One of the most incredible comebacks in NBA Finals history!!! The Boston Celtics who trailed as many as 24 points in the first half and by 20 points with 6:04 in the third quarter, rallied to beat the LA Lakers at the Staples Center to take a commanding 3-1 lead in the best of seven series.
Umm...if the Lakers come back to take the series and the NBA championship...the NBA IS FIXED!!!

Boston Celtics 2008 Championship DVD Part 1 of 9
09:54
Part 1 of the Boston Celtics 2008 NBA Championship DVD. This has been an amazing season for the Celtics and their fans. Congratulations.
"As the NBA's most storied franchise, the Boston Celtics have set the standard for basketball excellence. Their championship banners are testament to a dynasty that spanned four different decades, and their tradition of Celtic Pride was passed from one group of legends to the next ... but after winning their 16th NBA crown in 1986, Boston's run of glory drew to a close. The stars known as the Big Three would retire, and the Celtics that followed them paled in comparison to their legendary predecessors ... "
(pan shot of Dino Radja, Pervis Ellison, and Derek Strong sitting on the bench)
"But that low point would also become a turning point, as GM Danny Ainge turned frustration into hope ... Two trades brought a perennial All Star in Ray Allen, and a former league MVP in Kevin Garnett. They would join together with the cornerstone of the franchise, Paul Pierce, to give the Celtics a new version of the Big Three."

Chris Bosh Covers NBA Finals Game 1 For Jay Leno
LENO: Any predictions as to who will win here? You wanna go out on a limb?
BOSH: Not really, but a sure-fire way to make sure you know what you're doing, just see who Charles Barkley is betting on and just do the opposite.
LENO: If you were a player to be compared to on the old Celtics teams, who would it be?
PERKINS: I dunno man, it's kinda hard to say.
LENO: Come on man, it's just like other Celtics teams, it's just less white guys right?
PERKINS: Yeah (laughs)
SCALABRINE: Being the fact that I'm the token white guy for this team, and I look like I am a Celtic, before they go out they all rub my chest. And I just sit there and I just take it. I mean like, what else am I supposed to do? KG says, lemmee rub your chest, you just gotta do it ...
BOSH: Which character from "Sex and the City" would you be?
BIG BABY: Aw man, I'd be the girl who can't stand relationships!
BOSH: Samantha?
BIG BABY: Samantha ... No wait, I switch that back. I'm a little bit of in-between, I'd probably be the girl that's in love but likes to have fun, y'know. The one who got her heart broken, and stuff like that. I don't know her name but-
BOSH: Me neither.
BIG BABY: The girl with the curly hair. Got the long curly hair, the blonde hair.
BOSH: Oh, Carrie.
BIG BABY: Yeah, Carrie! Y'know, exotic and stuff like that. She likes shoes ...
BOSH: I like shoes, too.

Bush Welcomes Boston Celtics to White House
01:52
President Bush welcomed the NBA Champion Boston Celtics to The White House Friday. Boston, led by captain Paul Pierce, beat the Los Angeles Lakers in six games for their first NBA title since 1986. (Sept. 19)
"It is safe to say that everybody on this team contributed to the championship. You know, not enough focus has been put on, until the end, the depth of the bench on the Boston Celtics. They had a lot of players come off the bench to make a huge difference, and although the three big names, three great NBA players were there, but the real strength was the depth of the roster, I think. And I think most of the basketball experts will tell you that's the case. So I congratulate all of you for contributing to something that was very important. We'll remember your stifling defense, we'll remember your sharp shooting and the way -- we'll remember the way you played together as a unit, as a team."
"We just want to say it's truly an honor to be here in your house today. And on behalf of the Celtics organization, we'd like to thank you. And from what I hear, you played a little high school basketball yourself. So we're going to honor you with a basketball signed from our team. And a jersey, Celtic jersey with a 43 on it -- even those that's Kendrick Perkins's number. (Laughter and applause.) And he's from Texas. So that's why we gave you 43. (Laughter.) No, but for real, in honor for you being the 43rd President, we'd like to present this to you. And also, on behalf of the families and the victims in Hurricane Ike, the organization would like to also present a check for $100,000 to the Red Cross relief. (Applause.)"
"Thank you for doing that, that's a big deal ... "

Show #2943
From the World Champion Boston Celtics!
Dave thanks Kevin and Ray for coming on the show on such short notice. Says Ray, "Back in the 80s when you won a championship, you’d say 'We're going to Disneyland.' Now in 2000 when you win a championship, you say 'We're going to David Letterman.'"
Yeah!
You can tell Dave appreciates the history and the dynasty and the greatness of the Boston Celtics. This is their 17 NBA Championship. Dave asks if any of the old Celtics from those great teams come around the gym to help out. Kevin and Ray say players come around all the time and speak to them about the Celtic pride. Bill Russell is a frequent visitor and is considered the cornerstone of the franchise. Ray Allen says Bill Russell is a very funny guy. Ray says Bill Russell will say something that isn't particularly funny, and then he'll laugh and continue to laugh until you start laughing along with him. Dave says he does the same thing here every night.
Dave holds up a copy of an October issue of Sports Illustrated with the Celtic's Big 3 on the cover: Kevin Garnett, Ray Allen, and Paul Pierce. The team was coming off a dismal season, one of the team's worst ever, and here the Celtics were featured on the cover of S.I. with the newly acquired Garnett and Allen. Dave says the Boston Celtic uniform is perfect; none better. The Los Angeles Lakers uniform? Dave says they look like dental hygienists with that funny-looking thing around their collar.
Back in the day, Celtic president Red Auerbach was famous for lighting up a cigar inside the Boston Garden was victory was at hand. It is a well-known tradition. Was there any cigar smoking after the game? Kevin says there was a lot of cigar smoking after the game. Good. I like traditions, no matter how unhealthy.
Shortly before Game 5 in Los Angeles, Ray Allen's 17-month-old son had fallen ill. While the team traveled back to Boston for Game 6, Ray stayed behind in L.A. to be with his son in the hospital. Tests were done and it was diagnosed that he had diabetes. That's a lot to put on a father's mind. Basketball took a back seat . . . way in the back . . . at this time. Dave then reaches behind the desk and pulls out the Larry O'Brien Championship trophy and proclaims, "Well, then, this is for your son, Walker."
Very touching.
The Boston Celtics . . . out of nowhere . . . . CHAMPIONS! Just like the New York Giants . . . . sorry.

Jimmy Kimmel eats Paul Pierce's headband after predicting the Lakers would win the title and that if they didn't he'd eat the head band.
"After the Lakers fell behind in the series, I predicted they would come back to win, and if they didn't I said I would eat Paul Pierce's headband. Well, they didn't, so tonight as promised I am going to eat Paul Pierce's headband.
(applause)
"Here it is.
(puts in mouth, then camera cuts to him "chewing")
"Not bad ... tastes a little bit like nylon. Paul Pierce, by the way, will be with us here on Wednesday. I guess he figures since he's from LA, he's allowed to come back, but I happen to disagree."

Paul Pierce "2008 NBA Finals MVP" on Jimmy Kimmel Live 6-25-08
"When he was growing up, our next guest used to sneak into the Forum to see his beloved Los Angeles Lakers play basketball. But he did grew up, and signed with the Celtics and he betrayed his boyhood idols by beating them in the NBA Finals. Please welcome Boston's most valuable player, Paul Pierce!"
(Pierce comes out in a wheelchair rubbing his right knee)
"I knew you were faking all along!"
"I wasn't faking, man. That was a true injury."
"Was it really? How could it have been? You came back from it, I mean, did something miraculous happen back there, did Jesus visit you in the locker room and touch you with his beard? This really was an unbelievable moment, right out of the WWE ... Will you continue to study acting while you're here in LA?"
"I mean, I did grow up right here ... "
"You did. How could you do this to us? How could you do it? Do you feel any remorse whatsoever?"
" ... No."
"So, I wanna show you some photographs of other great traitors throughout history."
"Okay."
"This is Fredo from The Godfather. There's Benedict Arnold, you know him. Here's Judas, there he is. Tokyo Rose. This is American Taliban John Walker Lindh. And finally, our new definition."

01:32
Chris Connelly interviews Paul Pierce on the ESPYs Red Carpet.
"Ladies and gentlemen, from the Boston Celtics, Mister Paul Pierce. Back at the scene of the crime, are you?"
"Yeah, just here to enjoy all the accomplishments from the year, it's an exciting time, get to be around all the best athletes in the entire world."
"I hear that, when you're not changing diapers these days, you're reading to your daughter from a storybook about your incredible season. Is that true?"
"Oh yeah, definitely. I want her to know what happened this year during her birth. She's only three months, so hopefully she can take something in."
"I know I speak for everyone in Los Angeles when I ask you Paul - really, how is the knee?"
"The knee is still sore, it's getting better ... "
"No really. Do you want an Emmy for it, or an Oscar? What's the deal?"
"It is what it is. It's still hurting, I sprained it, hopefully I can get back out there working out in a couple more weeks."
"I hear you've been taking your MVP award to some restaurants around here, is that right?"
"Yeah, I've been taking it everywhere. You guys are lucky I didn't bring it tonight ... "
"What kinda response does it get when you bring it into a place?"

Ron's singing apology after pulling down Paul's shorts during a game......
Paul, I'm so sorry
To humiliate you on TV
By pulling your shorts down
I won't do it again
I don't know what was going through my mind. Paul was killing me in the beginning, so I had to do something to stop him and then he turns around and hits a three-pointer in my face. So, I think I did that all for nothing ... Nah, I think I'm just gonna take everything off. Take his shirt off, shorts off, everything. Socks, sneakers, everything.

Paul Pierce - "My game is made outside" Nike Commercial
05:51
Great Nike commercial featuring Paul Pierce.
"My game is made of Inglewood High and Rogers Park. My game is made of taking chances, and steppin' out for the "jay". So in the playground, you can't be afraid to make those mistakes, you should take the risk. That's when you get a chance to prove that you can do some of these things. My game is made of confidence, and being The Truth. My game is made outside."
"My name is Paul. My game is made of outside, then inside. Playing outside makes good players better because there's so many different elements involved in playing outside. Outside you have to deal with the weather, the wind, the sun, the cold. The rims are bent, the ground isn't as level, the ball doesn't have enough air in it, so it's a lotta different elements. Shoes, traction. So outside you gotta adjust your game to whatever the elements of outside bring. One move I got from the outside is when I come down, through my in and out, cross through my legs, and around my back, then spin move into my fadeaway. When you see me in the Garden, and you see that crossover spin move, that's something that comes straight from the streets. So, it's been practiced and drawn up for over fifteen years, so don't be embarrassed when it happens to you."
"My name is Paul. My game is made from Magic in the Forum. My favorite basketball players growing up in Inglewood was of course Magic Johnson, the guy I idolized. He's probably the best player I've ever seen play, so I'd be watching an NBA game or see a move and, shoot I'd run down to my friend's house and be in his backyard to see if I could do it. You gotta understand, there's always gonna be a wall in the backyard court where it's not enough room to drive. So, you might have three feet in between the wall and the basket on one side, and maybe five feet on the other side. So, what they would do in the backyard is force you to the wall. So, in knowing that my man was gonna force me to the wall, I developed the hookshot for the backyard game, and I also got that from Magic. So, that's where it all comes from."
"My name is Paul. My game is made of instinct and experimentation. I mean, that's the best lesson I learned from just going out in the playground. I just went out there, didn't have any planned moves, I just went out there and played. Whatever came into my mind, I tried it. If it fills a certain thing that I wanted to do, I tried to do it, didn't care about making mistakes. On the playground, you can't be afraid to make those mistakes, you should take the risks, the chances, the no-look passes, the alleyoop dunks, the behind-the-back dunks, you should try it all. You should see what you're capable of. Once you develop all the fundamentals, then you get into the game, a lotta the fundamentals can go right out the door when the game is on the line. I mean, you could just practice the crossover dribble that the coach taught you, but when the game is on the line, those same moves that you did in practice aren't going to work. And that's where you be more creative, you gotta do something that the defense doesn't expect. And that's what the playground is all about."
"My name is Paul. My game is made of long walks. People don't understand, the walks in the park were important too. You had your basketball, you had your cracks in the ground, you had cars driving by, and that's where you worked on your handle. Dribbling up and down the court, people walking by you, putting it through your legs. Avoiding them, running across the street, avoiding the cars until you got to the park. You hit a crack, your ball go out in the middle of the street, that could be it for your ball. Y'know, a car run it over, that's it. So, you gotta avoid the cracks but at the same time you gotta learn to dribble with your head up. Kevin Garnett - "I Just Knocked the Bully Out" (6.17.08)
03:19
Kevin Garnett's Game 6, post-game press conference interview, after winning the 2008 NBA Championship.
"Y'all don't even know, boy ... Thank you all for being patient, man! Man, man, man. I just wanna say, other than my kid being born, this has got to be the happiest day of my life right now. I'm gonna be hoarse, I don't plan on sleeping for a week and months. Y'all looking for me, personal friends, my number's about to change. Man, man, man!
"Man, I need some water ... Scoop, I'm here son! I made it son! I'm here! You ever go to school and you have that bully mess with you every day? You know, I know everbody's a tough guy here. It's like that bully that you go to school everyday and you know when you get out of your mom's or dad car you know you gotta see him as soon as you walk through the front doors and he's sitting there with his feet up waiting on you to pat your pockets and mess with you. Then it's like one day you say to yourself, 'Y'know what, this is gonna stop today.' And you walk through there and as soon as he pats your pocket you lay his ass out. And you see the expression on his face and you're sort of kinda shook because you know what, you just knocked the bully out and you don’t know how he's going to come back. So the next morning when you come in and he's not there, it's like a sigh of relief.
"Y'know, it's like getting rid of the bully, I knocked the bully ass out. I knocked his ass clean out, that's what it feels like. So for y'all who ain't been bullied, y'all have no idea what I'm talking about. But for y'all who have, you understand the story.

Impossible is Nothing
00:30
http://www.usatoday.com/money/advertising/adtrack/2004-10-31-track-usat_x.htm
Garnett helped design his first signature shoe for Adidas — The Garnett — which began selling in July exclusively at Foot Locker and www.adidas.com. The Minnesota Timberwolves forward's second shoe, KG2, is due in February.
Garnett's personality and leadership roles were key to Adidas signing him in August 2003. He's one of three NBA players on its roster.
"He represents the brand perfectly," Kyle says. "You have an athlete who inspires a lot of people around him. He carries his family and friends and does it with a smile. He sees it as a privilege. That was important for us."
Garnett's personality is showcased in the ad for The Garnett shoe. It shows him carrying family, friends and neighbors on his shoulders. In the ad, he strolls down the street to the sound of Etta James singing He's Got the Whole World In His Hands as people climb aboard the 6-foot, 11-inch MVP. Real friends and family appear in the ad.
"The ad is about Kevin's ability to carry a team, a city or the world on his back," says Chuck McBride, executive creative director, with Adidas' ad agency, TBWA/Chiat/Day, San Francisco.
Garnett is actually carrying four people suspended by harnesses. Others were added digitally.
The company worked with Chiat/Day to make sure the Garnett ad fit with Adidas' overall "Impossible is Nothing" image campaign. The message: The right attitude and sports can allow you to achieve great things.
Consumers surveyed by Ad Track, USA TODAY's weekly poll, got the message and liked it. Of those familiar with the Garnett ad, 28% like it "a lot," vs. the Ad Track average of 21%.

Kevin Garnett Adidas spot (2006)
01:05
Kevin Garnett appeared in the 2006 Adidas ad, "What's Inside" to coincide with the release of KG's new line of shoes, A3 Garnett.
From http://www.athlebrities.com/?p=104:
---
adidas Garnett ‘06 - "What’s Inside" :60
Open on a science fiction battlefield. We hear spaceships flying overhead
in an all-out attack on the planet. In the midst of it all, we see KG, dressed
as a Field General, standing tall, barking out orders to his soldiers.
KG: Call that pick out! Let me get a man over here! I got a man on the
break!
His soldiers scrambling to follow his orders. Explosions! Chaos! But
through it all, we see KG leading his troops as they protect their piece of
earth. Suddenly — a Humvee next to KG gets strafed. KG doesn’t flinch — and
waves his troops forward — running, leading his troops into the fray like
he’s leading a break.
KG: Come on! Let’s go! Let’s go!
They scramble to keep up when –
We see KG transition into an Action Hero, sprinting across an urban
rooftop toward a burning building. He sees a woman screaming for help on a
fire escape as the flames leaps around her. The fire escape gives way, and she
starts to tumble through the air.
KG shoots an arrow attached to a rope into the building — and leaps off
to save her. He grabs her, then swings her to safety, the hero who always
saves the day.
Just then, we pan down to see a little boy stepping out of a
brownstone — 8 or 9 years old, but with KG’s head.
Immediately, a girl tries to tag him, but he avoids it and starts
running — smiling and laughing, pulling spins moves and jukes — like he does
when handling the rock — he playfully avoids all the kids who are on the
sidewalk trying to tag him.
KG: Ahhhhhhhhhhhhh!
Laughter, joy, enthusiasm. Finally, he runs out of his scene and –
We see KG transition into a gladiator in a Roman Coliseum. In direct
contrast to the little kid, KG is all business as he battles his foes like he
battles under the boards.
KG: Get off me!
The coliseum crowd roars its approval as KG knocks yet another gladiator
to the ground, and celebrates his victory.
Then — we see KG onstage at a comedy club. Dressed in a suit, and
standing alone in the spotlight at a microphone, he already has the crowd
cracking up — and unlike the KG we just saw, he is cracking up as well.
KG: (laughing) ... no I’m serious. You said that too fast!
The crowd busts out — laughing and going wild.
KG smiles and holds up his hands.
KG: Thank you!
He backs away from the microphone, waving to the crowd. He turns and walks
through the wall behind him when –
A light clicks on and we see KG — as player and man alone on the wooden
floor of a basketball court. Holding a ball in his hands, KG looks around at
the place where it all comes together — his cathedral, his home.
He smiles, and starts to dribble, taking off toward the basket.
Bounce. Bounce. Bounce.
SUPER: IMPOSSIBLE IS NOTHING.
The "What’s Inside" campaign was developed by adidas’ global advertising partner TBWA\Chiat\Day San Francisco, part of the 180\TBWA alliance.

Rain: Kevin Garnett
00:30
An offical NBA Spalding basketball sits on an outdoor basketball court as day turns into night, sunshine turns into thunder and lightning. Red-colored rain falls from the sky, splotching on the ball. Tendrils emerge from the ball, digging deep into the ground. The ball rapidly expands and a muscled figure emerges - Kevin Garnett. Garnett stretches his arms and drinks from a bottle of Berry flavoured Gatorade Rain.

Kevin Garnett Gatorade spot (2007)
00:30
The TV spot opens on a pretty summer's morning on a quiet suburban street. The milkman is making his deliveries, but ... wait a second ... it's NBA star Kevin Garnett, and that isn't milk in his carrier. It's Gatorade AM. He drops off a bottle of potassium- and sodium-infused punch, picks up the empty and turns around.
Oh! There's the next-door neighbor watering his lawn! And it's Kareem Abdul-Jabbar. And, oh, look! Here comes a minivan to pick up the girls for soccer. Only it's not a soccer mom. It's Mia Hamm, and the girls are pros Kristine Lilly and Abby Wambach. "Kristine! Abby!" Hamm hollers. "Hurry up. Hurry up. Let's go!" They grab their bottles of Gatorade and scramble to their ride.
Then the voice over: "Introducing Gatorade AM, the Gatorade that comes in morning flavors, so you can get the most out of your morning workout." At the next house, the homeowner rushes past Garnett, grabbing his Gatorade as he passes. It's Colts quarterback Peyton Manning, hurrying to the team bus. "Thanks," Manning says. "Playbook," Garnett says, rolling his eyes. "Playbook," Manning repeats and does a seamless 180 to go fetch it. As always, Manning's performance -- even of two words -- is comic perfection.

"Well, I'm happy to be here ... I'm looking forward to playing in Boston, having fun man ... We need to establish who we are ... We're learning ... some things ... just very small things ... The little small things like that add up ... and that's big when ... you're trying to win a ring here ... That's the motivation ... We all are energetic about ... trying to be the best team we can be ... It is what it is, we gotta win ... and, uh, we didn't do that tonight ... You have to continue to keep your head up ... take it one game at a time ... see it like every night I have a responsibility to ... stay physical, stay aggressive ... Ray Allen vs. Denzel Washington - He Got Game (1998)
05:15
The scene from Spike Lee's 1998 film, He Got Game, where Jesus Shuttlesworth (Ray Allen) plays Jake Shuttlesworth (Denzel Washington) one on one.
Reportedly, Spike Lee wanted them to play for real in this scene, and they did. The final score is legit.
So, this is it, yo? Judgment day?
Father and son? Jake and Jesus?
So you ain't gonna say nothin' to me. Okay.
I ain't got no more time to be tryin' to beg your forgiveness or
nothin',

I can count. That's one.
[ Grunts ] Two.
Two-one. That's somethin' you taught me.
That's right. I taught you well, son.
A lot of things you learned from me. This your ball?
- What you stallin' for? - Everything you got you got from me.
Everything you got.
- Let me show you what you taught me. - Yeah, show me. Show me!
Show me!
I didn't teach you that, though, did l?
That's somethin' I didn't teach you.
- That was luck. - That's somethin' you gotta learn on your own.
Give it up. Give it up.
Oh, why you do--
Oh, yeah!
Who taught you that one?
I think I'll go around again.
- [ Panting ] Y eah! - It's your ball.
[ Grunts ] Mmm, I feel refreshed.
[ Sniffs ] Ahh!
[ Jesus Grunts ] You better shoot it. That's a brick.
All right, we gon' cut out all that lucky shit.
- What's that? - That's three.
- You gon' play me? - Yeah. I'm just warmin' up, baby.
I give you that.
- You better play some defense. - I give you that.
Don't give me too many.
Yeah. Where you at, baby? That's my rock.
Yeah, that was luck, anyway.
That's luck too, baby.
- Just call me the leprechaun. - That's your last basket.
Yeah. I'm a lucky Negro.
You ready?
All right.
Oh, I forgot.
[ Grunts ]
[ Spits ]
Payback is a bitch, huh?
Yeah.
[ Onlookers Murmuring ]

sportsman.
Ball up.

- I ain't givin' up. - You just gon' give up.
I'm teachin', brother. I'm teachin', son, like I always taught you.
Oh, you tired?
[ Jesus ] Get that outta here.
You're earnin' these two.
[ Grunting ]
Ohh!
I thought you lifted weights in Attica, in the joint. Huh?
Point game. Just play the game.
Just play the game?
I learned that from you.
You better "D" up, Jake.

Come on, move away.
[ Both Grunting ]

Ray Allen is selfless
01:12
During the post-game interview, you get the feeling that Ray Allen is quite possibly the NBA's most humble player.
Q. Can you talk about having a career All-Star high tonight? And for a second did you think you were in the running for MVP?
RAY ALLEN: I didn't think about it. I didn't even know how many points I had until I did the interview afterwards. Those points add up most definitely. I told my family before when I left the hotel room today, I told them that this is my eighth All-Star Game. They're so proud of me, they're happy for me to be here. I told them, I know you guys want to see me in the game, and you want to be excited about me.
But, you know, Doc and I talked. I said, If you need to play me, play me. But don't worry about me being on the bench. Because I'm not going to be mad at you if you don't play me. We're on the same team. So there was a point where when I started rolling, I was happier for them than I was for myself, thinking about myself and what might be the consequences of how I was playing. Because I know they were excited that I was playing well, and I could hear them cheering in the crowd.
A lot of times that's what pushes me when I come to the All-Star Game, they're so proud, and wearing my jersey. And people supporting me watching TV. It feels good to play good and play well for them out on the floor.

Rajon Rondo - Speedin'
02:47
A highlight tape of young Boston Celtics point guard Rajon Rondo. Rajon was drafted as the 21st overall pick in the 2006 NBA Draft by the Phoenix Suns, and was later traded to the Celtics where he would make his debut. Rajon has skyrocketed through only two seasons in the NBA, being named to the All-Rookie 2nd Team in 2007 and contributing largely to championship success for the Celtics in 2008.
The song is the instrumental version of "Speedin'" by Rick Ross.
Please enjoy the production.

Boston Celtics: Leon Powe
04:30
The Bay Area's OWN Leon Powe!!!
ABC/ESPN produced a short biography on how Leon Powe overcame tremendous adversity to make it on one of the NBA's most elite franchises, the Boston Celtics.
The night this aired, Leon Powe scored 21 points in less than 15 minutes to spark the Boston Celtics to a 2-0 lead over the LA Lakers.
DOC RIVERS: As a coach, I guess you should never cheer for a player, and I clearly cheer for him. He's a solid human being. If you met Leon and didn't know his story, the last thing you would think is "homeless" ...
VOICEOVER: Leon Powe grew up in Oakland, California, the oldest of seven siblings raised by their mother Connie. Powe was seven years old when everything started to spiral downward.
POWE: I remember it like it was yesterday. I was coming home from school, I seen all the firemen and the police officers out there around my house. And my moms came up to me and told me the house burned down.
VOICEOVER: With nowhere to go, the family slept anywhere they could, moving more than twenty times in six years, alternating between homeless shelters, motels, even abandoned cars.
POWE: We lived in the cars, hotels, we didn't have too much food to go on. All that just built up ...
VOICEOVER: Powe sometimes skipped school to care for his brothers and sisters, while his mom went to work.
POWE: She was doing the best she could. Every Thanksgiving, every Christmas, she tried to make sure we had something. Sometimes I know, she wouldn't tell me but I know she had passed up on her food just to give it to us. And it might've been just McDonald's or couple cheeseburgers or something, we had to eat. And she'd give it to us, and I knew that, so I wouldn't eat. I'd try to give it back to her, then give it to my little brothers and sisters.
VOICEOVER: When he was ten years old, his mother was caught stealing groceries and was sentenced to 90 days in county jail. The state placed Powe and his siblings into foster care.
WARD: Growing up in Oakland, man, it's real rough.
VOICEOVER: In the seventh grade, Powe met Bernard Ward, the father of one of his childhood friends. Ward would become Powe's mentor.
WARD: I had told Leon, I'm not gonna let you mess up like that, man. We're gonna try to do something with your life.
POWE: I told him my goals, and he was like, "Well, you're gonna need school." And that's how, the light bulb really went off in my head.
VOICEOVER: By the time he entered high school, Powe's grades began to climb, and his basketball skills began to soar.
JONAS ZUCKERMAN: Something clicked. I never once chased him down to say, "Leon you have to go to class." Never once said, "Leon you have to come here. We have to work on this." It was him chasing me down, "Mister Z, can we work on this essay? Can we do this project?"
VOICEOVER: Powe and his mother remained close. She often attended his games as he became one of the nation's top high school prospects. But in his junior year, four days before his state championship game, Powe's mother passed away from a chronic heart condition.
POWE: I was thinking how my momma said that, you know, when she see me play it made her real happy. My mom was a strong woman and she never gave up, so everytime I get stuck or find myself in a tough situation, all I do is think about my moms, my family, what she went through and my brothers and sisters went through, and what I went through.
VOICEOVER: Powe played his college ball at Cal before joining the Celtics in 2006. Off the court, he now spends time passing on the life lessons he's learned to young people.
WARD: I told him, it's bigger than basketball, and you're gonna be able to touch some lives just from everything you done been through ...
POWE: I always need to remember. I don't wanna ever forget where I came from, and always remember the people who helped me. Always remember the stuff I went through ...

Biography
Posey attended and played basketball at Chamberlin Middle School and Chamberlin High School in Twinsburg, Ohio. He grew up with Tennessee Titans cornerback Kelly Herndon who also went to Chamberlin. Posey was selected out of Xavier University by the Denver Nuggets with the 18th pick of the 1999 NBA Draft. He played a little over three seasons with the team before being sent to the Houston Rockets in a three-team deal also involving the Philadelphia 76ers on December 18, 2002. After finishing the season with the Rockets, he signed with the Memphis Grizzlies as a free agent in the 2003 off-season. On August 2, 2005, Posey was involved in the largest trade in NBA history, which involved 13 players and five different teams. Through this trade, the Miami Heat acquired point guard Jason Williams, forward Antoine Walker, shooting guard Andre Emmett, and the draft rights to Roberto Duenas. The Memphis Grizzlies received shooting guard Eddie Jones, and point guard Raul Lopez. Boston, who dealt Walker to the Heat, received a package that included Qyntel Woods, the draft rights to Albert Miralles, two second-round draft picks, and cash. The Boston Celtics also picked up Curtis Borchardt. Utah was able to acquire center Greg Ostertag, and the New Orleans Hornets acquired small forward Rasual Butler and shooting guard Kirk Snyder. With the Heat, Posey won the first NBA championship of his career in 2006. Posey averaged 7.8 points and 4.8 rebounds per game in 2005-06. He is notable for his three-point shooting ability. Posey had a somewhat disappointing regular season with Miami, but in the playoffs did more than expected. Now being switched to the Heat's sixth man, Posey was able to average 11.8 points per game on 48.8 shooting against Miami's first-round opponent, the Chicago Bulls. Against Miami's second-round opponent, the New Jersey Nets, Posey was forced to play defense, particularly guarding Vince Carter or Richard Jefferson. Although Posey's scoring dropped, his defense was said to have been the key to the Heat's advancement into the conference finals. Posey again had to focus on defense against Miami's third-round opponent, the Detroit Pistons, particularly guarding Richard Hamilton, Tayshaun Prince, and even sometimes Chauncey Billups or Rasheed Wallace. Posey was put to guard these players because other Miami perimeter defenders have other priorities. Dwyane Wade, for example, focuses on offense more than defense, and that is a huge reason why he averaged the most points for his team. Other perimeter players such as Jason Williams or Antoine Walker are labeled poor defensive players and would get taken advantage of have they been challenged defensively. Against the Dallas Mavericks, James Posey was a key factor on both ends of the court. Defensively, he, along with Udonis Haslem, provided tough defense on the Mavericks All-Star, Dirk Nowitzki. He also guarded Josh Howard, who had caused problems for Miami when Antoine Walker was guarding him. On the offensive end, Posey played a huge role in knocking down shots because Miami's All-Stars, Dwyane Wade and Shaquille O'Neal, were often double-teamed and needed to pass the ball. In Game 6 of the NBA Finals, Posey hit a huge shot to give Miami an 87-81 advantage with four minutes remaining. In Game 4 of the Finals, Posey was very impressive in Miami's blowout, scoring 15 points and grabbing 10 rebounds. Head coach Pat Riley said he likes the switch to have Posey come off the bench (for most of the regular season, Riley would have Posey start and Walker come off the bench). However, it seems that both of the players benefited from the change. On July 1, 2006, Posey opted to exercise his $6.4 million contract option, opting not to become a free agent. On April 9, 2007, Posey was arrested on a DUI charge and was taken to a Miami-Dade County Prison.[1] However, Posey continued playing with the Heat and coach Pat Riley stated he would support Posey. On August 25, 2007,

Celtics Brian Scalabrine talks trash after NBA Title Win
03:14
6-18-2008: Boston Celtics backup player Brian Scalabrine talks trash to the press after winning an NBA Championship ring.
BRIAN SCALABRINE: Let me break it down for you guys (laughter). A long, long, long time ago, we committed to this team. We committed on the defensive end. We had the personnel to do it. How, when you guys consider yourselves NBA experts, can pick the Lakers to beat us in six games? We're on TV all the time, so it's not like you don't get to watch us play. I just didn't see it. You guys were so convincing that -- you were so convincing that I maybe thought in my heart that, wow, this is going to be a series. How could that be?
I have questions for you guys (laughter). We won 66 games, we had the best defense in the NBA. I just didn't see it. I didn't see it.
Nothing?
Q. You were talking about what you felt and how you felt the team was kind of disrespected with the best defense and 66 wins. Did the rest of the team feel like that? Also, and if you guys did, besides winning a championship, how did you guys deal with that every day?
BRIAN SCALABRINE: I don't even think it seeped into any of us. We're a confident bunch of guys. It was like the first time we were kind of underdogs. But as we went along people picked Detroit against us, even sometimes Cleveland against us. I will say Cleveland played us tough. They were a great team. Mike Brown did a great job, LeBron James did a great job. But once again, our defense was the key, and that's where we were at today.
Q. Talking about defense, even in the two preseason games, you guys have done a great job on Kobe in all the games that you've played him this year. What do you guys do against him specifically that other teams can't do against him?
BRIAN SCALABRINE: What we do against Kobe is we try really, really, really hard.
Q. That's it?
BRIAN SCALABRINE: No, I mean, we do our defensive philosophy, and whatever our defensive philosophy is, it is the same against Kobe as it was against Joe Johnson in Atlanta who is a great player, same against LeBron James who is a great player, and Detroit who kind of plays you as a team. But Kobe is a special player and you've got to try to make him do what he doesn't want to do. A reflection of that is a world championship in six games.

Planet Pollard- Clam Chowder
04:20
SP: Hey, welcome to this week's edition of Planet Pollard. We're headed into Legal Seafoods, my daughter and I, we like coming here because we love the food and we're gonna check out some clam chowder. Come on in, enjoy ... [to daughter] Go through the circle-y thing.
[inside restaurant]
Have you decided what you want yet?
LP: No.
SP: No, not yet? I think I know I'm gonna have some clam chowder, right?
LP: You always get the clam chowder.
SP: It's true, I do always get the clam chowder ... You know what it is in clam chowder that I like so much? Uh, there's clam, and then there's chowder. And I think that's what I like about it. I don't know if I like the clam part better, or the chowder part better. But, oh, it's a good mix. The clam and the chowder, together? It's a good mix, I'm a big fan of the clam CHOWDAH!
LP: [laughs]
SP: Mmm, you know what? I think clam chowder is one of the seven food groups. A little-know fact about this New England clam chowder, here. It's one of the four food groups. You got bread, you got vegetables, you got clam chowder, and you got raw red meat! I think that's all of 'em ... That's the four food groups, according to Scott Pollard. You heard it here first.
LP: [laughs]
SP: Mmmm, it's washing over my taste buds, it's like an avalanche down a mountain. It's so delicious ... I LOVE clam chowder, Lolli!
LP: Well, if you love it so much, why don't you just marry it?
SP: [laughs] That's pretty funny ... Wait a minute. I think you're onto something here!
[begin dream sequence where Scott is outside with a bowl of clam chowder in a doggie bag]
Ooh, it is freezing out here! But you know what? I always have a warm place in my heart for you clam chowder! You are so wonderful and lovely and you keep me warm on a cold cold day. I love you clam chowder, you're my best friend!
[skipping]
Awww, clam chowder! Hahaha, you always make me laugh! Okay, close your eyes. Are they closed? Okay, now open 'em!
[standing on the hull of a boat]
I'm the king of the woooorrrld! Haha, are you enjoying that view?
[at a public toilet]
Okay, I need to go too, but ... ladies first! [looks away] Tinkle-tinkle-tinkle!
[walking outside]
I'm very excited, sweetie! [singing] Goin' to the chapel, and we're gonna get ma-ah-arried! What better place, than the Old North Church? Such history, so romantic ...
[tries to open gate but finds it locked]
Nooooooo! Denied ... [starts crying]
[throws bowl of clam chowder on the ground as dream sequence ends]

2007 NBA Rookie Photo Shoot with Gabe Pruitt
06:47
Go behind the scenes of the 2007 NBA Rookie Photo Shoot.
I'm with Gabe Pruitt, new addition to the Celtics. Gabe, you having a good time today?
Uh, very good time. It's pretty fun, my first time doing a photoshoot like this, with a lotta action shots so it's pretty fun.
Have you ever collected cards as a kid or ever?
I did, I actually used to collect cards with my brothers and sisters, so we have a big collection of cards.
You still have those cards?
Yeah, I do. I still have the cards, uh, they're in the garage somewhere, so I kinda got away from it. But now, y'know, now that I could probably find my Celtics one I'll probably start it back up.
Any favorite card from the old ones?
Uh, couple of my Jordan cards. Those are the cards that we used to collect and keep, so those cards are one of our favorites.
As a kid, did you ever think that you would be on a basketball card?
Never would I have thought, uh, it's a good feeling to see myself on my own card. Uh, and signing them, y'know, so now I'm one of those players that we used to collect, and now I can have them in my collection.

Larry Bird's retirement with Magic Johnson (Part 1)
09:31
"You know, you caused me a lotta sleepless nights ... Y'know, I tell people all around the country when they ask me the question - who the best, who this, who that - and I always tell 'em that, y'know, I didn't play way back and all that but when I was playing you were the best all-around player that ever played. But more than that, the more respect that I can give you is the fact that you were the most feared player, I feared you more than anybody else because I knew, if it was a little time on the clock, y'know - point-one, one, half a second - this man would find a way to win that damn game!"

NBA Bob Cousy Great Assists
00:45
NBA Vintage
"He was called The Houdini of the Hardwood, a nickname Bob Cousy earned - not with feats of illusion, but with his field of vision."
Cousy: "I have exceptional peripheral vision. That's a tremendous asset to have in basketball, when people talk about seeing the whole court. The assets were in place, for someone who is blessed that way, doing the unorthodox becomes very easy to do, frankly."
"And no one appreciated Cousy's eye-catching performance more than his coach, Red Auerbach."
Auerbach: "Well, Cousy and I had an understanding. I didn't care how he threw the ball, as long as somebody caught it."

Dedication of the Bob Cousy statue (III)

The life-size bronze statue of basketball great Bob Cousy, dedicated at the Hart Recreation Center (at the College of the Holy Cross) on June 7, 2008.
"Ladies and gentlemen, I must tell you I am humbled to the point of embarrassment by this tribute. This is a surreal experience for me, y'know, this should happen after you've gone to the big golf course or basketball court in the sky. When was the last time in your worldly travels as a tourist or on business, where you may be looking up in Rome at some old church figure or in Paris at some warrior on a horse, and you look at the guy standing next to you and it's that guy, you know? Is that spooky or what?"

NBA's 60 Greatest Playoff Moments: #5
00:41
It is the most famous radio call in basketball history, hoops' equivalent to Russ Hodges' famed "The Giants win the pennant! The Giants win the pennant!" from baseball's 1951 National League playoffs. There simply is nothing like the gravelly tones of the late Celtics broadcaster Johnny Most describing the closing seconds of Game 7 of the 1965 Eastern Conference Finals between the defending champion Celtics and the Philadelphia 76ers.
First, to set the scene: The Celtics' lead had shriveled to 110-109, and Philadelphia regained possession with five seconds left after an inbounds pass attempt by Boston's Bill Russell hit one of the wires that ran down from the ceiling of Boston Garden and helped support the baskets in those days.
Hall of Fame guard Hal Greer prepared to toss the ball inbounds under his own basket. The logical target seemed to be massive Wilt Chamberlain in the low post, but Russell fronted Chamberlain and took away that option. K.C. Jones, guarding Greer, leaped along the baseline and frantically waved his arms to distract him as the five seconds ticked away.
To get a better view of the court, Greer jumped up and spotted high-scoring forward Chet Walker, seemingly open beyond the key. But Boston's John Havlicek had taken a position several feet off the direct line between Greer and Walker, making it look like Walker was open when he really wasn't. After counting off a couple of seconds in his head, Havlicek sneaked a peek over his shoulder at Greer just as he prepared to release the ball. He moved into the passing lane ... but let Most tell it:
"Greer is putting the ball into play. He gets it out deep," Most intones, before his voices rises into a frenzy. "Havlicek steals it. Over to Sam Jones. Havlicek stole the ball! It's all over! Johnny Havlicek stole the ball!"
Havlicek tipped the inbounds pass away from Walker and toward teammate Jones, who dribbled out the clock as fans poured onto the court. The Celtics had the win, and would go on to capture their seventh consecutive championship.
Havlicek went on to score over 26,000 points in an NBA career that lasted 16 seasons, but he is best remembered for that steal immortalized on tape by the late Johnny Most.

Kevin McHale Clotheslines Kurt Rambis
01:33
McHale decks Rambis during the 1984 NBA Finals - effectively turning the series in Boston's favor.
DICK STOCKTON: Here's Kareem, outlet to Worthy. Rambis ... and now let's watch it! Cooper and the Celtics, and now the benches empty! As Larry Bird helps Kurt Rambis up, he was decked by two Celtics and hit the floor hard, and both benches have emptied. And you knew this was gonna happen, you could see it coming.
TOM HEINSOHN: Well, there's a strategy in the NBA by some coaches, don't let the other team make a layup. Make 'em shoot the free throws, we saw a lotta that in the past series against New York. First time we've seen it in this series.
STOCKTON: The coaches are trying to break things up ... And the crowd getting into the act, as there's Henderson and Jess Kersey going at it. KC Jones, who's already been hit with a technical foul in the first half, and I don't remember when this crowd was aroused this much. Here it is.
HEINSOHN: Well, here's the missed shot that's gonna produce a fast-break opportunity. The long-court pass, there's McHale hustling back up, it's a 2-on-1 and both McHale and Henderson go for Rambis and boy they got 'em! And Rambis up quick ...
STOCKTON: Worthy prevented Rambis from going after Henderson, and now there's Larry Bird who said, um ...
HEINSOHN: Oh, it's part of the game, y'know? I mean, Rambis got upset ...

Bill Russell Block Art
05:16
"He wore number six, and it seems only fitting as he possessed a sixth sense for the game. Bill Russell explored basketball's depths from the inside out ... He played the game on another level, his own, within his own private dimension. A battleground where his chosen weapons were intelligence, logic, and cunning."
RUSSELL: "You go out there in a game ... There are ten players, three refs, two hoops, twenty thousand people, one ball. And what's gonna happen with that ball is the most interesting thing."

In this episode, ICONOCLASTS brings together actor Samuel L. Jackson (PULP FICTION) and basketball legend Bill Russell for a unique one-on-one encounter. In Seattle, the man who lead the Boston Celtics to a record 11 world championships gives the highest box-office-grossing actor in film history a tour of his home and the two play a round of golf.
SJ: I've always held Bill's accomplishments in awe ... but he doesn't.
BR: I don't you'd ever find anyone less impressed with those [trophies] than I am. That time and place, I cannot relate to. People ask me all the time, do you still pick the ball up and shoot around? No I do not. Since I've retired, I never played another game of basketball. Because I played enough games. Not too many, not too little.

Bill Russell - Bell System Commercial (1973)
00:29
Former NBA Player and Coach Bill Russell appears in this ad for Bell System in 1973.
"Now that I'm coaching, I tell my players, if you're in a tight ballgame and you got a good shot - take it, don't pass off. Now the same thing holds true when it comes to saving money on long distance. Now if you dial your own out-of-state calls from your home or office, you got a sure shot and up to 50-percent savings. So don't pass off to the operator, she can't save you money. To save on long distance, you put 'em through yourself."

Will Ferrell and Bill Walton Talk hoops and Semi Pro
02:36
SwagDog has Moon 33 t-shirts!
http://www.swagdog.com/youtube
Will Ferrell is spoofing sports again -- this time basketball. Watch him play ball with former NBAer Bill Walton.
Walton: Headband is too tight!
Ferrell: Let's, uh ...
Walton: HORSE?
Ferrell: Yeah, let's play HORSE. Let's do it.
Walton: This is your world, you shoot first.
Ferrell: Okay ... [swish]
Walton: Oh god, are we allowed to cheat? [clank] Aw man! It's still zero-zero, right?
Ferrell: "H" for "Feel the HEAT!" [swish]
Walton: Oh my gosh! [clank] That is terrible ...
Ferrell: Here we go ... [swish]
Walton: Why didn't you go to UCLA? Jumper like that ... [clank]
Ferrell: I still have eligibility ...
Walton: Growing up in Los Angeles, in the era of Showtime, you must've been a huge Kareem and Magic fan.
Ferrell: Huge. Huge Lakers fan. That's kinda my first memories, watching those Laker-Celtic battles, and uh ... of which you were part of.
Walton: For a nanosecond.
Ferrell: I cursed your name many a time.
Walton: That's quite alright.
Ferrell: [laughs]
Walton: I saw Bird do this in a real game.
Ferrell: Okay, uh ...
Walton: Larry Bird, you've heard of him?
Ferrell: Right.
Walton: At the Hartford Civic Center, been there many times with the Dead, it was unbelievable. We showed up there with the Celtics this time ... So he catches it right here and he's falling out of bounds. He's looking and nobody's coming to throw it to. So he's here, and he shoots it [clank]. Aw, like that, but he swished it! And the referee said, that's good! We're gonna count it! But they had to go back and change it.
Ferrell: Oh, because it wasn't good?
Walton: Because it wasn't good in those days, now it is good.
Ferrell: Okay ... [swish]
Walton: Look at the touch! I tell ya, you've got it! What're you wasted your time in the ABA and films for?
Ferrell: I dunno.
Walton: I've seen 'em all. From Kareem, to Wilt, to Russell, Jerry Garcia, Bob Dylan, John Wooden ... I have never been more impressed with anyone.
Ferrell: I wish I could say you're the first to tell me that, but you're one of many ... but thank you.
Walton: I'm just glad that I could stand at the back of that long line.
Ferrell: I'm glad we could have this time.

Bill Walton: The Man, The Myth, The Legend
00:46
Every second Bill Walton talks he is doing us all a favor. Here he is discussing basketball (I think) over the phone.
"From the valley of the sun, I am perched high above the desert floor, and the red streaks of the morning dawn are illuminating this glorious sky. I'm perusing Edward Abbey's 'Desert Solitude' here, and on Opening Day, the songs are just running through the smoking crater. I've been listening to Bob Dylan's newest album, 'Modern Times', which is absolutely remarkable. Thunder on the mountain, spirit on the water, rolling and tumbling, which all go to describe Amare Stoudemire. But songs that I can't get out of my mind today - John Fogerty's 'Centerfield'. Put me in, Coach! I'm ready to play today! Or Bob Dylan's 'New Morning', and David, like you I'm just so happy to be alive underneath this sky of blue, on this new morning, new morning, what could be better?"

fox sports celtics commercial................with a twist.
Telfair: (entering Lucky's office) I just wanted to say that I'm really really excited about being a Boston Celtic. I was thinking, because I'm new here and to give the fans an opportunity to know who I am, we should have, like, a big Sebastian Telfair Night at the Garden.
Cutout of Lucky Mascot: /sits silently, then becomes covered in bullet holes as the sounds of a gun firing are heard
Ainge: (seeing Telfair step out of Lucky's office) How'd it go in there?
Telfair: /shakes head
(scene cuts to Celtics logo as "I [heart] Celtics" is written across screen in dripping blood and Nas' "Life a Bitch" plays in the background)

Dime interview/photo shoot, describes his tats
Music by P. Kaso ("Take Flight")
"[The Chinese symbol on his neck] means 'sincere' ... or, at least I hope it does. Y'know, everytime I go into a Chinese store, they laugh at me so ... "
"The dragon [on his right forearm]? This is when I lived in Hong Kong for a little bit, and I mastered the art of the Samurai sword. And they branded this on me, saying that I was a Fist of the Dragon. This [lion tattoo on his left forearm] was when I lived in Beijing, and I used to fight tigers, so they printed me with a lion ... I just made that up."

Delonte West and Paul Pierce
05:17
Paul Pierce interviewing Delonte West ...
PP: So we just gonna talk about a little fashion here, I see you done came out with your little Gucci shoes ...
DW: Gucci belt.
PP: Gucci belt, Gucci glasses. Now I'm sayin' D-West, where you think you rank on the team as far as fashion?
DW: See, when you ask me that question ...
PP: See, you thinkin' too long! You thinkin' too long!
DW: No, when you ask questions like this, I really gotta really think like where's your motivation coming from, because ...
PP: I'm saying, you talk about fashion, you talk about you're one of the best-dressed in the league, you got the most style, you got the most flavor. I'm saying, on the team you'd probably rank, I'd put you right behind Tony Allen. You know Tony Allen don't wear nothing but Thermos and beanies!
DW: [laughs]
PP: So I'm putting you right behind him.
DW: Well, you know what? It's not the clothes ...
PP: Oh, now it's not the clothes, but you the best-dressed?
DW: It's the man.
PP: See, we get on tape, and we get to talking 'bout stuff and now you go from ...
DW: Well lemmee tell you what, I swear to God, my aunt got a curtain that looks just like that blazer you got on!
PP: [laughs] I promise you, my momma ...
DW: I swear to God, everytime the sun came in, she was like "Close the curtain Delonte, the sun all in here!" And you taking me, giving me flashbacks!
PP: Hey, I promise you, my momma's car material looks just like this in her car [pulls on Delonte's sleeve]! Everytime I sit in there, it looks just like this!
DW: Why you gotta grab on me like that?
PP: I'm sayin', it feel like that same material.
DW: You never felt this before, that's real-life Tasmanian Devil ...
PP: Tasmanian Devil?
DW: Yeah ... Nah, it ain't Tasmanian Devil, I lied.
PP: [laughs]
DW: This is my brother's coat. Dean-o, yeah! I got your coat on and, yeah! You gonna get it back and don't tell Mom, it's gonna be back at the house ...
PP: Hey, let everybody know you still got the tag on the coat, 'cause you're taking it back after the show, right?
DW: Oh yeah. Prudential Center special, yeah. Goin' right back!
PP: [laughs] Aw man, but we're gonna talk some hoops, man.
DW: Okay.
PP: Where do you see this team at next year, man? I mean, just growing and seeing the pieces that we got, what do you see this team doing next year?
DW: For real?
PP: For real. We gonna be a playoff team?
DW: With like the same pieces, and throw in like one or two ...
PP: I mean, we're gonna have a lottery pick, you know that. You've been coming along, playing well, Al [Jefferson] been coming along, with everybody improving. Where do you see this team this time next year?
DW: Okay ... We'll be cold-blooded.
PP: Alright.
DW: We cold-blooded now, for real. You know that. We cold-blooded. When we, when we ballin', when we out there just playin' basketball, we can play with anybody in this league. And then everytime with us, see, everytime, you know, we still out there ballin', we always short one or two pieces that we have that may be injured or ... Like man, we got Tony Allen playin', he was playin' before he got out. You, bein' The Truth, Al playin' the way he's been playin', and y'know, the rest of us we just fill in and, y'know, play solid, man. Come on man, that's - I see one official All Star right there. And I see two in the making, inTony Allen and Al Jefferson, for sure. There's no reason while Al Jefferson's name shouldn't be in All Star talk next year.
PP: Right, right.
DW: And Tony Allen, with him coming back strong. And Wally, man, and ... all of us playin' at a top level, man! Man, come on.
PP: Forget about it!
DW: Forget about it.
PP: [laughs]
DW: Come on, man. Boston Celtics!
PP: So what's your plans for this summer, man? What's your plans? What you got going on this summer? You plannin' on takin' any trips? Stayin' in Boston? Goin' on home? What's your plans for this summer?
DW: Well, you know what? I ain't really never ...
PP: I'm goin' to Europe for three weeks.
DW: Really? [speaks "French"]
PP: Spend some time in Italy ...
DW: Okay.
PP: They want me to go over there and scout, uh, over in ... Where we going next year? Rome? Where we going to, Rome? Yeah, they want me to go over there and scout in Rome.
DW: Rome ...
PP: So they sending the Celtics, they want me to go over there and check out stuff. I'm gonna go over there and see what's going on.
DW: Okay.
PP: You know, for a couple weeks ...
DW: That sounds all wonderful and good and everything, but ... see, when you get to a certain level, "they"! "They" just want you to go, "they" just want me to go to Rome!
PP: Mm-hmm.
DW: My momma want me to come home!
PP: [laughs]
DW: I'm goin' home to DC, get some chicken, sleep in my same room with no TV in there! Do some pushups and come on back up and do some layups!
PP: He's a liar, he's lyin' ...
DW: I'm lyin'!
PP: He lie ... [laughs]
DW: I'm goin' to Ocean City and everything! [laughs]
PP: Alright man ...
DW: Nah, nothin' man. I'm a home body ...
PP: It's time to wrap up the show, man. It's good having you here today ...
DW: Yeah, brother!
PP: You got any last words for the camera? We got Delonte West, you got any last words for us?
DW: I do wanna say some last words, man. You know, first and foremost man, y'know I don't wanna give shout-outs like I'm not every been on TV, but ... Anytime I get a chance to have my face on camera and to do something I love, you know, I gotta say, I wanna thank the Lord for putting me in this position, for blessing me. And, uh, yeah. Momma, you did your job. Yeah. Little Rudy, couldn't get the money for your bail, but we're gonna get there, alright?
PP: [laughs]
DW: Dean-o!
PP: Alright man, we outta here, man! We out! We out y'all!
DW: Swamp Thang!
PP: We outta here! It's a wrap!
DW: [picks up cellphone] What's up Denzel ... Washington!
PP: [laughs]

1986 Boston Celtics
09:02
***If you want to watch a video in high quality put this at the end of the video's internet address (url) &fmt=18 ***
Is this the best team of all time? It is definitely the best passing team I've ever seen. The 86 Celtics were known for opportunistic defense, great ball movement and they had one of the best players ever in his prime -- Larry Bird.
I put together a video that tries to show why this Celtic team was so great. It contains footage from the 1986 Finals only. That's really all I needed.
Enjoy.

Boston Celtics Comeback: '02 NBA East Finals Game 3 (5 of 5)
07:57
PART 5 of 5 [0:29-0:00, postgame]
Presented here is the entire final period of Game 3 of the 2002 NBA Eastern Conference Finals, in which the Boston Celtics orchestrated the greatest 4th quarter comeback in NBA Playoff history at the FleetCenter in Boston (a.k.a. "The Jungle") against the New Jersey Nets. The Celtics erased a seemingly insurmountable 21-point deficit to stun the Nets (who nonetheless went on to win the series).

Littlebigplanet E3 2008: Sony Press Conference Presentation
04:01
At E3 2008, Sony Computer Entertainment CEO Jack Tretton uses the game Littlebigplanet - in lieu of a PowerPoint presentation - to illustrate the company's fiscal numbers, and dresses up the main character in a Paul Pierce jersey!
"As you can see behind me, we're running a special level of LittleBigPlanet that was created by the team at Media Molecule to help us illustrate a few points. How's it going Alex?"
"Good, thanks."
"So we got Sack Boy there and, as you know I'm a Boston boy and that's the home to three championship teams, just like we have three championship-caliber platforms. So could we give Sack Boy a little bit more of a Boston flavor, kinda make me feel at home? [Number 34 jersey appears] There we go. Alright, now I feel better."

Boston Celtics Pride Song (1987)
02:45
Here is the old Boston Celtics Pride Song from 1987
Now if you ever come down to the city of beans
Where the city's got a team, and the team's got a city
Out on the court, in the color of green
We've got some guys, that can really scream
From the fast break to the 3 point play
Take it coast to coast, or steal the ball away
From the turn-around jumper to a cross court pass
They can handle the ball, they've got nothing but class
Yes, we've got Celtics Pride
We're feelin' the green down deep inside
Celtics Pride, we're gonna get back one more time, one more time...
Now we've got Larry and Chief, DJ and Kevin,
Danny, Bill, Fred, Reggie, and Paxson.
Lohaus and Dirk, Artis and Mark,
And with a team like that we're gonna reach the top.
You can hear the scores every morning
On the radio with Wally and Loren.
With Jimmy and Chris, and KC and Red,
We've got Tommy, Mike, Gill, and Cooz for play-by-play.
Yes, we've got Celtics Pride
We're feelin' the green down deep inside
Celtics Pride, we're gonna get back one more time!
We've got Celtics Pride
We're feelin' the green down deep inside
Celtics Pride, we're gonna get back one more time!
Oh yes, we've got Celtics Pride
We're feelin' the green down deep inside
Celtics Pride, we're gonna get back one more time!
We've got Celtics Pride ...

Buggin' Out: You the man.
Mookie: No you the man.
Buggin' Out: You the man.
Mookie: No you the man.
Buggin' Out: No. I'm just a struggling Black man trying to keep my dick hard in a cruel and harsh world. Hey, what's up with the white boy?
Mookie: Buggin', don't start no shit alright? Vito's down! Vito's down alright? Right?
Buggin' Out: Yeah, Vito's down.
Mookie: Vito's down.
Buggin' Out: [Clifton - wearing a Larry Bird jersey - bumps into him] YO! YO!
Clifton: Yeah?
Buggin' Out: You almost knocked me down, man. the word is "excuse me."
Clifton: Ah, excuse me, I'm sorry.
Buggin' Out: Not only did ya knock me down, you stepped on my brand-new white Air Jordan's I just bought, and that's all you can say is "excuse me"?
Clifton: What, are you serious?
Buggin' Out: Yeah, I'm serious, I'll fuck you up quick two times.
Punchy: Two times.
Buggin' Out: Who told you to step on my sneakers, who told you to walk on my side of the block, who told you to be in my neighborhood?
Clifton: I own this brownstone.
Buggin' Out: Who told you to buy a brownstone on my block, in my neighborhood, on my side of the street? Yo, what you wanna live in a Black neighborhood for, anyway? Man, motherfuck gentrification.
Clifton: As I understand it, this is a free country. Man can live wherever he wants ...
Buggin' Out: Free country? Man, I should fuck you up for saying that stupid shit alone!
Punchy: Yo man, your Jordans are FUCKED UP!
Cee: Damn man, you might as well throw dem shits out. Dem shits is broke.

Clifton: I'm outta here ...
Tina: Come on man, break his face!
Punchy: Take his bike!
Buggin' Out: Yo, I should make you buy me another pair! Man, you're lucky I'm a righteous black man, otherwise you'd be in serious trouble man! Serious! Man, why don't you move back to Massachusetts?

The Sports Guy - "Tennis Ball"
01:26
Marv Albert: Six minutes to go, the Knicks leading by seventeen! Not a good showing for the Boston Celtics. Here's Paul Pierce ... oh, he's way off tonight! Just can't get it going!
Dog: [drops tennis ball under couch, starts whining]
Bill: Aw, come on Dooz! [reaches under couch and rolls ball away]
Albert: Marbury from three, no good! Celtics have numbers, long pass to Pierce ... he lays it up and in! [curious, Bill remains in awkward position] Now here's the steal by Jefferson, and he lays it in!
10 MINUTES LATER ...
Albert: [as Bill strains to remain in position] What a comeback for the Boston Celtics! An improbable 19-2 run to tie the game! They clear it out for Pierce on the left side, he takes Crawford off the dribble ... Yes! The Celtics take the lead!
Bill: [in pain] Alright!
Albert: Paul Pierce is on fire! And the Knicks call timeout with 3.4 seconds remaining ...
Sports Gal: [walks into scene] What are you doing?
Bill: [face turns red]
Sports Gal: What's wrong with you?
Bill: [whispers as face turns purple] Go away ... [Sports Gal grabs him] Wait, what're you doing?!?
Sports Gal: I thought you were having a stroke!
Albert: Last gasp for the New York Knickerbockers, here's Marbury from three! Yes! It's good! The Knicks have won the game!
Bill: [annoyed look at Sports Gal] Great! Thanks!
Sports Gal: What?

Opie and Anthony: Celtics vs Hitler
02:48
"Rooting for the Celtics is like saying Hitler is a victim" -- Jemele Hill
ANTHONY CUMIA: Hey, the Celtics won their seventeenth championship, and there's a little controversy up there in Boston today. You got a guy, Jemele - I believe? - Hill of ESPN.Com, comparing rooting for the Celtics to Hitler.
GREGG 'OPIE' HUGHES: I was gonna say "Hitler" as a joke ...
ANTHONY: To Hitler ...
OPIE: Why?
ANTHONY: Uh, I dunno. And I think this guy was very vocal when Imus got fired, which makes it ...
OPIE: Was he?
ANTHONY: ... quite interesting today, yes.
OPIE: To Hitler?
ANTHONY: It's a girl, they're saying ...
OPIE: A girl, what's her name? Jemele? Alright, let's go with that.
ANTHONY: Wait, was she vocal when Imus was fired?
OPIE: Yes, very vocal ... Okay, here we go. Here's the story.
RADIO ANNOUNCER: Fans are certainly psyched for a Celtics win, but a recent article about the series on ESPN.Com is not sitting too well with them.
RADIO ANNOUNCER 2: When I read from the ESPN article to Celtics fans, that statement, they were so shocked and upset ... They said it's one of the most insensitive comparisons they've ever heard.
FAN: We're not talking about ... we're talking about basketball.
RADIO ANNOUNCER: But it's a statement that has Celtics fans up in arms.
FAN 2: I don't think you can say Hitler is a victim no matter what the circumstances to begin with. But, uh, yeah. That's over the top.
RADIO ANNOUNCER: And here's the statement that was on the ESPN website. Writer Jemele Hill writes, "Rooting for the Celtics is like saying Hitler is a victim. It's like hoping Gorbachev would get to the blinking red button before Reagan."
ANTHONY: [laughs]
OPIE: You know what? What'd she say about Imus? Do we have, like ... oh, you got it? Wow, good.
ANTHONY: Well, Toucher and Rich ...
OPIE: Yeah, Toucher and Rich, who do afternoons on WBCN, they're taking up this cause big time.
ANTHONY: Oh good. Good for them.
OPIE: And we've got some audio of them just going off yesterday on their radio show.
ANTHONY: It's amazing that they have to take it up, though. Like, it's amazing ... where are the guys in Media Matters, or the Black Journalists Association? Where are all those bums? Those creeps in Media Matters, where are they?
OPIE: You should be able to say what she said ...
ANTHONY: Of course.
OPIE: But, if you're also the one being very vocal about Imus' firing, that's where we certainly have a major problem. A major problem. This is Toucher and Rich from yesterday, on BCN up there in Boston ...
TOUCHER: Alright, I love this, and I wanna talk about it as much as possible today. In page two of the Herald, they have - I don't know how you pronounce her name, Jamilla Hill, from ESPN's Page Two column, wrote about the Celtics and about how she still hates them and she compares liking the Celtics to supporting Hitler and wanting Gorbachev to press the button before Reagan for nuclear weapons. And, uh, there was a bunch of controversy apparently, and ESPN.Com had to edit the article ...
RICH: Yeah, they yanked it after a couple of hours.
ANTHONY: Hmmm.
OPIE: So that's all the punishment she gets, huh?
ANTHONY: That's it, just yank the article.
